Thanks for sharing that. Are you still witnessing? Hopefully not. Jogging Woman certainly gave a good witness to you. Good for her.

by snowbird inthey are mouthy, sassy, awake and watching;.
choosing life, free to think, not so quietly leaving;.
kicking butts, taking names, bindings wounds well.

What do you miss from yesteryear?
by greendawn ini met a childhood friend recently and he told me with nostalgia that he recalled the childhood days as being very pleasant.
i told him they would be since we were living under the protection of our parents who took care of all our needs and we had no worries about anything.
it would be like paradise.

Oyster Roasts and my dad's oyster stew and clams on the half shell that he caught and opened for us.
My mom's cooking and our first and last organic garden grown together.
My southern grandmom's cooking.
My Yankee grandma's cooking.
My Yankee grandma's visits and gifts when we were little kids.
The excitement of summer family trips.
Trips to the mountains, camping, hiking with the family.
Driving around with my sister and jamming out to Heart on an 8-track tape in 1983, when we were getting along and losing our religion.

A big house and a big swimming pool in Manasquan, New Jersey and the cook outs we had there, playing with my cousins. And the smell of the next door neighbor's coconut cookies. And Boots, the old great dane. And all the sugary cereal in the world upstairs there. And secretly watching Star Trek and Bewitched and I Dream Of Jeanie, even though it was forbidden.

A lovely birthday dinner party
by Madame Quixote inyesterday, when i got up and saw all the emptiness in the yard, i felt very alone.
the loss of my friend set in, with the sight of empty spaces where all of his machining, working tables and tools once stood.
the house and yard were empty of people, all the busy chaos of the week's selling off tools and equipment over, and my work week ended.. i was glad that i had rebecca's birthday party to look forward to yesterday.

Thank you, purps. I wish everyone here could have been there last night. It was beautiful - both in a physical sense and in an emotional one.

I hope that you have more good days than bad ones! I am sorry you are struggling with illness! Life can be so challenging, in so many different ways. May you rise to the challenges and be as well as you can possibly be. I am very sorry for you and hope there is a good treatment for you. You deserve to be well and happy after all the good that you do here for others.

What affected you more, growing up in the cult, or a dysfunctional family?
by Bumble Bee ini think for me, it was the dysfunctional family.
things from my childhood are finally getting to me.
i've tried for so long to just push them to the back of my mind.

The cult made denial of every other "pink elephant in the room" easy.
The cult mentality that says, 'we're alright because of jehobo's blessings,' allows the denial to go on endlessly, and discourages dysfunctional people from getting the psychological, emotional, or psychiatric support they would ordinarily seek if faced with the possibility of an intervention from the outside world, which is perceived as the enemy of jehobo's people. The cult definitely exacerbates every problem my family has.
I am amazed at how many people on this thread have freely and unequivocally used the term "cult." I think this signifies much healing here.
